What is going to happen if you don’t read books? The answer to this most curious question lies in another question- what happens if we read books? In a simple sense, what you achieve through reading books like new knowledge, language skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse ideas will be deprived of that if you don’t read. But there are more insightful things that might happen if you stop reading books or not read. I am going to express them in order to make sense of the fact from my point of view.

It Pauses Cognitive Growth If You Don’t Read Books

Reading books stimulates our ability to comprehend and to develop critical thinking skills which are essential for cognitive development. The more you read books, the more you will develop knowledge, the more your thinking process will improve. It will stop immediately whenever you stop reading a book.

The fact is more serious in the case of children and students. Because students and children go through four stages of cognitive development one by one up to 25 years since birth as per Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development.

If students continue reading in a fun and interactive way, they will be more likely to be motivated to read more on their own. Reading tends to have the desired result of generating curiosity and leads to more reading.

Decreases Language and Communication Skills

When you read undoubtedly come across unfamiliar words. Sometimes it needs to figure out the meaning by looking at the illustrations or how it is used in the sentence. Through this way, you can gain a deeper knowledge about the language the book is written you are reading. As a result, the more you read, the richer language knowledge you will enrich.

Reading books improves communication skills at a standard level. A good reader understands the facts, ideas, and thought of a book the author expressed when reading the book. The language of the book is also quite effective in real-life communications. This ability to understand the meaning of the book instantly will decreasing day by day when you don’t read books.

Reduces Chances of Success

The fact is true in this material world that the more you have the knowledge, the more opportunities for success you will get. The wiser you are, the richer you are. You can gain as much knowledge as you want by reading books which will increase your chances of success in all cases whether you are a professional or student or entrepreneur.

As reading books give far-reaching positives results, it is vice versa when you don’t read books. So it is wise to keep continue reading books if it is not possible for you on a regular basis, read whenever you can manage at least half an hour in a day.
