What is going to happen if you don’t read books? The answer to this most curious question lies in another question- what happens if we read books? In a simple sense, what you achieve through reading books like new knowledge, language skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse ideas will be deprived of that if you don’t read. But there are more insightful things that might happen if you stop reading books or do not read. I am going to express them in order to make sense of the fact from my point of view.

The more you read books, the more you will develop knowledge, and the more your thinking process will improve. It will stop immediately whenever you stop reading a book.

The fact is more serious in the case of children and students. Because students and children go through four stages of cognitive development one by one up to 25 years since birth as per Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development.

If students continue reading in a fun and interactive way, they will be more likely to be motivated to read more on their own. Reading tends to have the desired result of generating curiosity and leads to more reading.

Decreases Language and Communication Skills

When you read undoubtedly come across unfamiliar words. Sometimes it needs to figure out the meaning by looking at the illustrations or how it is used in the sentence. In this way, you can gain a deeper knowledge of the language in the book is written you are reading. As a result, the more you read, the richer language knowledge you will enrich.

Reading books improves communication skills at a standard level. A good reader understands the facts, ideas, and thoughts of a book the author expressed when reading the book.
